From the corner of Fear and Loathing

GIBBERING CITY,  EAST YAMMERSTEIN -Feeling very Cornered
here in my little Corner of America tonight.
Not even a finger’s worth of this worthless rotgut in the
house to guard against the willies. Talents all but wasted away…
mediocrity looming…

But who the hell put this fucking sign at the end of Ma
and Pa Money’s street down in the ‘Burg?

What is going on here?

...

I think this response— the methodologies, the rhetoric,
the bizarre off-topic ADHD, the AR-15’s, nail-biting about taxing
sodas and killing grandma by committee, beating this uppity
half-breed just to beat him— I think this is the Real Issue at Hand.
Look at it. This is far more important than the debate about or
even getting healthcare. And it’s ironic as this whole shebang has
proven just
how very
sick
 this nation really is.
The prognosis is dire.

Is this how adults act in The Greatest Country on Earth? Is
this acceptable? All my life I’ve wanted to be an adult and now
these are my peers? These? The infirm or hopelessly mired in their
own masturbatory bureaucracy. Oh boy, oh boy.
Another jackass out of South Carolina (seriously, what’s in
the water down there, Colbert?) screaming out that the president is
a liar during an address ton congress, his cohorts holding up
hand-lettered signs, “What Bill?”  Are you kidding?
I try hard to balance this sort of abuse and disrespect
against what The Last Guy used to go through.  He was disrespected
but is that rationale enough to act this way?  "Well, you did it to
Our Guy so we're going to do it to Your Guy?"  That's not righteous
anger; that's the way children rationalize.  That's not the way
grown men working on a Bill who have been elected by other grown men
act.

The Bill, The Bill.  It'll happen, eventually.  I know.
You can only leave people sick and poor for so long before
people catch on that you leave people sick and poor but until
then the discussion will be clouded with madness.
"It'll Fueled by Lies," Browne says.  "But it's a bill.
It could last 10 years in the process.  It could get defeated
and sent somewhere else for ever."
All the same, I can’t get a good grasp on the situation. Feels
like it’s “on TV.” I can’t connect at all with any this. These people do
not function like do.  They are operating on a completely different plane
of rationality, logic, or even shame.
Nothing is sticking and no-one is learning anything.
9-11 junkies missed this one while they were stroking it out
to jumper footage, but if you tore yourself away from weepy eagles this
past weekend, you might have heard PRI's Marketplace when Kai Ryssdal read
the headlines, "TOXIC ASSETS REPACKAGED," "INVESTOR APPETITE FOR RISK
RETURNS,” and announced, "What we have here is a crisis wasted.”
Reuters' Felix Salmon agreed:

I don’t think Wall Street’s learned a lesson at all. The
minute that Wall Street started being able to borrow money again, it
jumped in with both feet. And it’s been borrowing money all year
this year, basically since March. It’s just been borrowing more than
you can possibly imagine — trillions of dollars in new corporate debt
issuance. It seems that Wall Street has already forgotten the dangers
of too much debt.”

What can one sweaty asshole in a blazer do? Stay quiet? Let it
happen? Or face them on the field, descend to their level of congress.
Criminy, Colin was right: you can’t get anything done ‘round here without
RAISING YOUR VOICE LIKE SOME KIND OF MANIAC. Maybe biting off a digit is
the only thing left to do. War is Peace; Freedom is Slavery; Ignorance
is Strength. I wanna see blood and guts and veins in muh teeth.
Very spooky. Something more twisted than any Ralph Steadman visage.
And this is another bloggy post. Pathetic mewlings. Another set of
1’s & 0’s signifying nothing.   Another page of vitriol, another dash of salt
in the sea. More static. More flashing modem lights. No answers here.
Only Fear & Loathing. Some impotent rage. Same as always.
Anesthetize.
Anesthetize.
