Support independant zombies!
Phew…I just came within a hair’s breadth of creating a ‘zombiphillia’ tag before realizing how utterly, utterly, wrong that would be.
The official trailer recently went up for George A Romero’s new film “Diary of the Dead” which is slated for Feb 15th (nice huh?) and premiered at the Toronto Film Festival. The thing I love is that he’s done it as a completely independent project. Low-budget shooting, no Name actors (but a few voiceovers as I understand), no major studio support, and some CGI shop effects. I’m excited to see someone who could easily have secured major backing instead decide that retaining full creative control was more important, and indeed, vital to the film that they intended to make. Breaking the stranglehold on content production and distribution that some of these organizations have will, I think, prove to be one of the hallmarks of our evolving culture.
If that not worthy of it’s own category I don’t know what is!!!
Hear, Hear Gestalt!
It’s like Clover Field with Zombies. I can’t wait.
If there is anything I must put on my movie-going agenda it’s this one! I’m horrifyingly psyched too!
Blair Witch meets Zombie apocalypse. Too good to pass up!
