Geek Girl Abode

I might have hit the jackpot when it comes to geek girl blogging.  I was doing some of my never ending web research (others call is web surfing) when I stumbled upon Geek Girl Blogs.  My eyes grew wide with excitement and I practically squealed a Woot out!  I spent about two hours on their site clicking the many links to the other girly geeky blogs.  /sigh.  the internet never fails to amaze me, oh, how I love thee.  The site appears to be ran from down under (which is über cool) and also features podcast!

a bit about the Geek Girl Blog site:

We know that there are many amazing women working in the IT industry, across all areas, countries and backgrounds. Many of these amazing women have decided to keep blogs that give insight into their daily life: some purely technical, some social, others cover dealing with the constraints of working in this so called mans world, balancing work with family and achieving amazing personal & career goals, while others are just damned entertaining.

Our aim has been to create a central repository that brings these women’s blogs together in one place, to create a wealth of knowledge that covers the amazing strength, agility & force that is Women in IT! We also hope that by sharing our experiences we can encourage & enlighten women thinking of a career in IT.

Check out the Girl Talk link to see the aggregated blogs. Add it to your rss feed to stay updated.
The Idle Thoughts section will feature articles from our amazing women, talking about their experiences and giving advice on lessons learnt on their journey in IT so check back regularly to see what’s new.

If you go to the Girl Talk page on the site you will find a list of about 130 blogs made by girls that have categorized themselves to be geeks.  The blogs vary in interest.  I have already added 3 of the blogs to my Google reader RSS feeds.  I found this great site called “A Year in the Life of a BSD Guru” who is a SysAdmin, Technical Writer, and Technical Trainer.

And check out this one “All The Modern Things” , and this one “Girl Developer” and I can’t not  (I know bad grammar but I’m overly excited here!) mention “Before Hours: Geekgirl’s Plain English Computing“…so there you go, enjoy and subscribe!  And don’t forget to visit the Geek Girl Blogs blog roll on the Girl Talk page to check out more blogs by girls doing geeky things with their spare or not so spare time.

Seriously, there are sites devoted to comics and The Dark Phoenix saga!  What is a world without comics, not one I want to be a part of!  Alas, I must retire as I need to go and do some of my own nerdy, geek-driven things that I have been negelecting.  Now where did I put that MC Lars mp3 download again…
