‘The Amazing Screw-On Head‘ from Mike Mignola, who created Hellboy. I can’t believe I’d never seen this until only recently. Dirigibles! The pathos of a decapitated automaton! The fact that she makes a throne out of live rats! This is the pilot episode, and I wish, very dearly, that there were more. Perhaps if we are all very dark and broody for Christmas, then Santa (ever notice the anagram?) will one day grace us with a series.
Such a bummer that they only made a pilot. I remember seeing this years ago and making a point of filling out the much needed survey that simply states over and over again, “I would watch this religiously if you made more. Make more, make more, make more! You really need to make more!” My disappointment was only increased when I found a copy of the DVD and it was only the pilot. Hungry for more I watched all the special features and they simply stated in all the interviews, para-phrase in parenthesis (I can’t believe we made a pilot for this. Yeah! We won, let’s rest on our laurels.) This is what happens when slackers are talented they never finish anything cool.
