The Future Will Be Gay

So, a couple weeks back several members of the BOL staff had given theirtwo cents about the gay marriage being overturned. Since I have been conspicuously absent I thought I would add my much belated opinion. Firstly, that sucks. I have a lot of friends that would like to get married but can’t. Secondly, legalizing gay marriage is good for the economy, so when you’re poor and bitching about how the governor doesn’t do enough, blame yourself for voting poorly. And lastly, for my gay friends out there who are feeling down and defeated and think it will never come true, don’t worry. In the future there will be open and legal gayness everywhere. If you don’t believe me watch Star Trek.

I know, I know what you’re thinking. “But that’s the sixties, everything back then was full of sexual tension. Look at Spartacus” This may be so, but have you taken a closer look at Star Trek: Next Generation? Keep in mind this is the future. Things are more open then, or I mean will be.

See! In the future gays will have equal rights and everything will be ok. So, stop trying to outlaw gay marriages.

Everybody was Kung Fu Fighting

Because it just seems appropriate given our recent stint of impugning of the world around us.  I was awakened by a sweet cup of coffee by my bedside and a loving smile.  When I am happy songs will pop into my mind as if they are the theme for that moment.  I took my cup of sweetness and stared out my window over the streets of the city.  The morning is grey with light bits of rain in between the wind.  The trees still have their orange leaves but only clinging by a small thread to the half-bare trees.  There seem to be more on the ground than on the branches.

I sipped my coffee and this song came into my head and I got that spine-chilling feeling that only happens when you know you’ve heard the truth.  So enjoy the morning air for it is amazingly breathless and full of life but only if you pull it in.

and just for the pure fun of it…this piece of jewel was a rough among the youtubes…

What’s that coming out of my speakers?

It’s a dreary Saturday afternoon looking out over the city in October with rain pelting my windows.  I always find myself listening to music and wanting to write when the weather presents its self as such.  Maybe I am convinced there is something important to write down.  Here is a bit of the music that is streaming out of this place today…

Enjoy!

Oooh, Veenuuss…

It was cold, dreary and a most defiantly desolate morning on the edge of town.  The air was so thick with salt that if you opened your mouth it would fall right in and you could chew it.  I felt lucky to be where I was, looking out my fifth story building window down onto the streets and away from that cold morning air.  I know that as soon as I walked out into it my lungs would fill to the brim and I would choke and cough til I seized up and breathed no more.  At least that is what my bones were telling me as I sipped my blond coffee from my gigantic mug and cracked a smile.  Suddenly, my head was filled with this;  my own Sunday morning theme song …

(oh, and I adore Natalie Wood)

I woke up in a blissful mood even though it was not filled with dancing sugar-plums, or a fat old man in a sleigh with tiny reindeer pulling his fat ass; it was more like a slumber filled with melancholy dreams of days gone by and days to come being played out to a theme song.  This day will be good, it will be filled with Sunday activities and plenty of rest.  My soul is ready for it to begin …let it rain.
