Friday Night Anime Block: Gasaraki

<begin> I had forgotten how much I’d enjoyed this one until my sibling kindly reminded me. Therefore it becomes a necessity that I share it with you.

Tonight the feature is Gasaraki, which focuses on a world where the United States is at war with a fictional Middle East nation and Japan, naturally, steps in to provide demoniacally fueled mecha armor (as if that wasn’t enough right there) to help counter a brutal engagement by the US forces. As I’m sure we’re all predicting, Trouble necessarily ensues.

So you want to be Cash Money: Jagged Alliance

METAVIRA – Before there was Blackwater there was A.I.M.

Those of you who have read my chronicled exploits might recall that I had a brief and tenuous relationship with Association of International Mercenaries, a free wheelin’, death-dealin’ little outfit I discovered by way of the classic 1994 DOS game, Jagged Alliance.

Twestival 2009 – Portland

Cue excitement! Portland, ME is getting it’s own Twestival. I’m having a flashback to the moment I realized we actually had a local Jelly, only in a slightly more giddy, jumping-up-and-down on couches, squealing sort of way. Give me a moment.

Better now. Thanks.

The event itself is to be held 9/13 at the Space (that would be 538 Congress for the uninitiated), and donations go to the Maine Aids Alliance. Luckily, this is one that Neko and I are actually able to attend (awww. our first public twitter appearance. Isn’t it sweet?) and barring of course, any unforeseen act of kitten malice or personal harm due to misuse of kitchen implements, we plan on doing so. Here we come. Take our money, please!

So if you’re in the neighborhood, by all means, come out and rub things against Portland’s twitterati (no, not us. It’s that lot over there) and support a good cause. Hit the banner above or the link below for more info and updates.

Cash Money Culinary Challenge #1: Cherry Teriyaki

OKHAIDHUNGA -I have friends whose talents run to the culinary.  I certainly have never claimed such.  I’m the guy who screwed up instant mac & cheese.  You probably read about that one in the papers.  Yes, that was me.  True story.

However, do not mistake that episode for a lack of understanding of the fundamental concepts, precepts, and forceps of food.  I just… can’t do it.   As such, I prefer to come up with a cockamamie idea and challenge my culinarily-inclined associates to command performances!
